Claudia Flores

New York Guild & Power Pilates Certified Instructor

Born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, Claudia began studying Ballet at an early age. She joined the highly reputed Royal Academy of Dancing, and at age eighteen was invited to London to further her studies. Instead, she chose to attend Brigham Young University where she was accepted into their Ballet Department as an apprentice. Although passionate about dance, she changed her major to Sociology and transferred to the University of Utah.

During this time, Claudia was introduced to Pilates upon the recommendation of a friend. Unlike other forms of exercise, she found this “unique” exercise both mentally and physically challenging. Just as Joseph Pilates had, Claudia suffered from constant asthma. Within one year of practice she noticed a dramatic improvement in her lung capacity. She also noticed an increase in her physical strength, while at the same time becoming leaner and more flexible.

Pilates made such an impact on Claudia, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to undergo a year-long certification program at the Pilates Studio of the Midwest—a New York Guild certification center. She chose the Guild because of their rigorous program and strict adherence to Joseph Pilate’s classical system. Her training included: seminars, academic study, continuous testing, and 600 apprenticeship hours. Claudia attended several seminars taught by Romana Kryzanowska—first generation Master Teacher and sole inheritor of the Pilates Method—and was required to test out with her.

Upon graduating in 1999, Claudia returned to Salt Lake City and opened Body and Mind Studio. In an effort to expand her knowledge further, Claudia also obtained certification through The Power Pilates Center, Scottsdale, Arizona. Today, she continues to attend trainings and seminars, and can be found giving her advice on Pilates in the Salt Lake City Magazine.

With more than ten years of teaching a wide variety of people, Claudia is still excited and fascinated to see both the physical and emotional changes that Pilates imparts on each of her clients.

Jody Park

Certified Power Pilates Instructor

A native of Seoul, Korea Jody was adopted at age eleven and came to the United States. Here, she became involved in Jazz and Ballet. Upon entering High School, her interests shifted from dance to gymnastics and other various sports.

Since that time she has been an avid runner, mountain biker, snowboarder/skier and yes, once a ‘Stairmaster Addict’.  In 2004, Jody was exposed to Pilates through a close friend. Drawn to Pilates because unlike other fitness programs, it required a high level of mental focus, she began attending a mat class, private and duet session each week.

So fascinated by the mind and body connection Pilates invoked, Jody moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in order to undergo the year long certification program required to become a Power Pilates™ Instructor. There she learned about Authentic Pilates™ from an anatomical view point. She studied under some of the best instructors whom studied under Romana Kryzanowska, “first generation” Master teacher who was taught directly by Joseph Pilates himself. Jody chose the Power Pilates® Method because she believes they best honor the integrity of the ‘Classical System’ of Joseph Pilates

Jody continues to enjoy working out both in and outdoors and running with her two chocolate Labradors Jack and Bonny. She received her degree in Business Administration from a college in Wyoming.
